2012 ushers in nineteen new partner families. They are all eager to begin their sweat equity and earn their first home. We have met with all the families and are delighted to realize that over 60 people will have a decent place to live this year thanks to the Habitat model. Our final numbers are in! 150 students during week one and 81 students during week two! Welcome to Columbus, The first week is co-hosted by Columbus State University and the second week is co-hosted by Aflac. Columbus is a great place to live, work and raise a family. Come to the store, Renovation Station, Tuesday - Saturday, and leave your painted handprint on a framing 2x4. Leave a message for a new Habitat homeowner. Now we are all together and I could not be happier! Our office space is fabulous - thank you Jim and Cynthia for making it happen! What could be more fun than walking into the store for a picture hook or just asking Chance for a hammer? The space is just wonderful. Come and see what we have done! We have a press conference Tuesday @ 10 at Pou Street to announce the sale. Mayor Tomlinson will be present to give remarks. Thank you Mayor and all who are making a difference in our town. Mark October 3 - World Habitat Day - for the dedication of the seven homes built in the 2011 Collegiate Challenge. At the same time we will dedicate the pocket park built by BB&T Bank for the benefit of Habitat homeowners and the Eastview neighborhood. The ceremony will begin at 4:00 at the park on Mason Street. Today I received my first building permits. I was challenged to get the permits in three or less visits to the planning department which issues the permits. I am pleased to report I was successful on one visit only! Let the building begin! Collegiate Challenge 2011 06/24/2011
On July 7th Columbus will add seven new homeowners to its city. Our seven families have worked hard to complete their homes begun during the Collegiate Challenge building blitz in March. We meet two weeks ago and I could feel and see the excitement of these families. They are ready to have a place to call home and HFH is ready to make them homeowners. Thank you Columbus for a great turnout for our first ever Yard Sale. We made over $3600. These funds will allow us to complete the seven homes built during the Collegiate Challenge 2011.
